Holy ****. My download+ Upload speed are now officially garbage

#1Billdough002Posted 12/29/2013 12:26:04 PM(edited)

The above was a speed test from a month or two ago.

Now.(i'm not downloading or uploading anything right now)(Not sure why the server is in a different location??)

Some notes: It literally took me 15-20 minutes to download a 36 MB file. While a few days ago, it also took me 30 minutes to upload a 3 minute video on youtube.

My upload speeds were bad before and download speeds were at least tolerable...but now...

Could it perhaps be a router issue or something? Anyone have any suggestions as to what I could do?My step dad is the one who usually handles this stuff, but i'm contemplating calling Time Warner Cable and asking what in the world is going on.

Do you live in an apartment building? Someone moved in and is using the same wifi channel you are.
Insert generic offensive/slightly racist/holier than thou/fanboy/douchebag/elitist comment here.

Who's your ISP? If you're paying for better speeds than this you should call and complain.

Yeah, TWC sucks
Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost.

stop using the router, plug in directly to modem with cable, see if that fixes it

if yes, its a router issue

if no, call your ISP

That would be a nightmare (especially if you don't know how to protect against outsiders).

well, I think ours are about even, I have better upload, you have better download.
Let us assume that for the sake of assumption that I am always right.

I guess they have some sort of data cap in place on you. Full speed for X gb's and access and then they throttle you. It's not limited they just want to. Wouldn't be suprised if they change policy and you get a $500 internet bill for automatic overages or something. Gotta love playing monopoly when you get to make and load the dice. Maybe buy some stock options or something. Business by the balls just like smokes.
