Can someone give me a good reason why windows 8 sucks?

Besides the start menu which is not that bad and can be changed. All I hear is people saying WINDOWS 7 is da bestest. Ok why?

It's got no Start men . . . . oh uh well it just does. Deal with it.

That seems to be the main argument... But if it can be changed, then is there any actual reason?

There is no reason. The start screen acts almost identically to the start menu except its more customizable and personable. You can still hit the windows key and quickly type something in to search. People just hate change or like jumping on the band wagon.

It's the first step in Microsoft trying to create a walled garden a la Apple where all software for their platform is sold in a store wholly owned and operated by themselves.

Talking about the Windows Store FYI.

I don't think consumers will let them get away with it, but I wouldn't put it past them to try it.

Another thing is that some old games that are problematic to work even on 7 won't work at all on 8 (Deus Ex 2 for example).

Probably more the Apple lookalike thing Windows is trying for. That's what turned me off it. It really is just Windows 7 Apple Edition..

Most of the people who claim it sucks aren't actually using it. They're using Windows 7 and just see the changed start menu(which is easily replaced and even if you dont, its still at worst as functional as the start menu in 7) and dont want to change, so they proclaim that it sucks and ignore the myriad of objective improvements(many of which you will benefit from every day, vs the 2-3 times I've used the metro start menu in the last 6 months).

removing Aero is the only legit reason, but its more of an opinion anyway(and the flat "metro" style doesnt bug me).

Yeah, I know its a petty issue, it's just Windows 7 is perfectly fine for what most people want, it's what they've used and it's what they like. The same happened for XP to Vista. And when Windows 9 or whatever they call it comes out, people will be happy. 10 will be a rehashed version of 9 and so on. It's how Microsoft does things.

What do you mean by apple lookalike? And if it's faster, which I've heard it is, why not get it? I personally use windows 8. Sure the panel stuff is confusing, but if it were a big problem I'd change it.

It has better performance and boot time, so its better than Windows 7.
