Consider FF7

I want to get this game...on steam, it's 6 dollars on amazon right now. Is it worth it? Even in this age? Next 3 months will see tons of new games come out...

Is the story good, that good to warrant purchasing on steam?

It's not the story everyone likes. It's the setting, the materia system and the soundtrack.

FFVII had the same impact Bioshock or Skyrim did, only unlike these two, it isn't a terrible game, which is why people still have fond memories of it.

same with FF8.

I liked 8 as well, I was saying don't bother with 8 on steam not that 8 was also overrated piece of nonsense.

If you can get past the graphics and some spotty engrish, absolutely. It's not the best JRPG, it's not the best in the franchise and it's not even the best in the franchise in that generation. It's still a solid game though.

Actually it's the story people like so much. It's one of the reasons I've been a fan of this game for 15 years now.

I hated 7 but I love 8 especially how many different challenges you can setup for yourself such as beating 8 under level 10.

Not terrible, but it is overrated near-trash tier

Overall it is a pretty fun experience where the whole is bigger and better than the sum of its parts. However, it was amazing at the time it was released. While it aged kind of ok (mostly due to the fact that good prerendered backgrounds and good sountracks age well) it will not have the impact it had back in 1997, or whenever it was.
