Games that go above 60 FPS?

Been looking at a 144 HZ monitor. I can't justify going 1440p simply because of the cost but was wondering what games could take advantage of a higher frame rate. The obvious would be some FPS'es. Anything else go above and beyond 60?

You only really benefit from faster paced games with a higher framerate. As a 120hz owner, its nice and noticeable but it's not something you will feel in every game.

Not true, but they usually are bad console ports. For instance, AC4: Black Flag does not go above 60 Hz.

Are you sure about that? I'm pretty sure it went above 60 fps when I turned off vsync. I personally run adaptive vsync and have it capped at 60 but I will test if you are 'sure'.

100% sure. Also, some games (and most fighting games) don't allow over 60 FPS since their physics is tied to frame rate.

Sorry for doubting you but you are indeed correct. Just found it strange is all. I don't maintain a steady 60fps in that game at the settings I enjoy anyways :P

If you can't maintain 120 FPS in a game, it's usually a better experience to just cap at 60. 120 has worked really nicely in Dishonored, BioShock Infinite, and all Valve games, though.

The latest NFS is capped at 30fps right? and so is LA Noir when it first came out

I believe NFS has been officially patched already and LA Noire sort of makes sense due to their face technology and how everything was captured. There are 60fps unlockers for most games that have the limit but LA noire is best played at 30 imo. The animations look a little odd with the unlocker.
