When OC my GPU, my benchmark scores get lower as the GPU offset gets higher

#1JohnnyBananas26Posted 1/2/2014 11:11:22 PM
What I mean is, I am using Precision X to OC my GTX 680. At +201 my extreme Fire Strike score was 3591. So I decided to add 20 more to the GPU offset and my score drops to 3492. Ok...so I saw I'll revert back to +201 from +221 and my score will be the same! Wrong. It ended up being 3488 and the more I tried to get the score I had before, the lower my score gets and it's just a total mess and won't go back to where it was. Any ideas what the hell is going on? Was my system probably strained or too hot?

Neither for now. Nothing's really a good deal right now with the mining craze and all.

That only happens when you go above 70 degrees I thought? My card hasn't even gone over 63 degrees under full load.

How about power limit? - the higher clocks might be making it hit the limit slightly (esp if you clock the mem) even just once very breifly, might explain the lower overall score.

Yeah on +181 it hit it once but the score was high. Eventually made it to +191 after reducing it after some crashes and it hit the power limit like 10 times. So what's the cause of the power limit? The PSU? Or is it something that just happens and I should go lower until I see no Power Limit being reached?
