No option because it has to.

Awesome.

So I'm still new to this linux thing. So in relation to an analogy to Windows, it's more like Linux-Ubuntu OS right? As opposed to Windows XP OS.

Ok what the heck... I just went to the Ubuntu download page and it says the LTS option will be supported until April 2017 and 13.10 with only 9 months of support... what the hell? What does that mean?

LTS = long term support.

It would be too much work to support every little update version for years to come, they only do it for each solidified major release.

Basically, the older version has less features but is more stable and you'll be able to not worry about updated it for a few years if you don't want to. Newer version has more bells an whistles but its somewhat unstable (not terribly so, i'm on it right now, mostly just get simi-frequent popups saying something went wrong despite not actually noticing anything happen myself)

It means they'll stop supporting 13.10 a little after 14.4 comes out.

So just as long as I constantly keep up to date with the new releases, I should be good then right?

Also when each new update comes out, does that mean it will reformat each time or will it just update?
