well if amd gets the upper hand I might switch to amd but as for now, nvidia still reigns on the hardware/software kingdom in the pc realm.

3 engines, 20+ games in development (some obviously using Cryengine or Unreal like Star Citizen and Thief) to use mantle.

Also, very brief demonstration of BF4 running Mantle. Apparently it's running on a 290x?

Until AMD can actually execute a technology without first botching it, I'm incredibly skeptical.

That's exactly how I feel about any projects Google takes on.

All I have to say is that we just have to wait and see, but for now I remain skeptical.

Honestly I do not see why there are people who seem to want Mantle to be something that does not really work. If it does work, and give a significant performance increase, the general consumer wins.

Though even if it does work, I am not hearing too much about other titles making use of mantle. And with the issues DICE is facing with Battlefield (they pushed back DLC for example to address the issues the game has like bugs, balance and server-clientside synchronization), I am not even sure whether the developer can be all that committed to that API.

Another problem is that the expectation is that it will be most usefull for certain hardware configurations. That is, systems with a good GPU and a subpar CPU. Most people run a balanced setup. Even if there is a 45% increase in performance in some setups, that is great, but what people really want to know is what the performance increase will be for an average system.

Honestly I hope it works out. I personally do not give a rats ass about Nvidia vs AMD. I just want the best performance for the price.

Apparently the Mantle demo was 4K, or at least that's how it would seem unless there are other demos to come.

The mantle demo was with the Kaveri APU, that is where the numbers come from, the percent faster.

They ran BF4 at 4K using Mantle but it wasn't the source of the numbers, also no mention of the actual hardware used.
