Games where you can build stuff

#1kingoffpsPosted 1/13/2014 8:03:13 AM
I've never played Minecraft but I'm going to check it out. It would be cool if there were a better looking game though.

When I play RTS games I end up building loads of walls, defenses, perfecting layouts etc. I can spend hours just working on my base.

I'm looking for some kind of game where I can spend ages building structures. Sim City is sort of what I'm looking for, but with less micromanagement and on smaller, more focused structures.

Like a more high-tech version of Lego or something.

Blockland is pretty much Lego. You can make a fort and defend it from other players, as blocks are destructable

Yeah that's a great game. But I recall trying to get it to run at native resolution last year and it being a massive pain.

They should re-release it on Steam. It can use the new AoE 2: HD engine..

If you're checking out minecraft you may as well go all the way and install FTB as well. Basically it's minecraft plus stuff to actually put in your base besides chests, furnaces, and a bed.

In my main world's base I have 2 nuclear reactors, a solar array that generates 2560EU/t (not a whole whole lot in the grand scheme of things but starting out 32 EU/t is a whole lot more power than you'll need for the first few hours of a world. If it's your first world then probably the first few days), more electric furnaces than I care to count, a machine that converts zombie pigmen into diamonds, and for the first time I'm actually happy with the way a large building I built looks.

I also have an awesome nether base but I won't go into that since explaining it would get into some more advanced stuff and my lunchbreak is almost over.
