Getting a Headset for under $200.

What are the features I should be looking for in a gaming headset? I have never owned one before I just always used speakers.

From anyone who has done research what are some of the best ones at that price?

I also heard just getting high quality headphones and a separate clip on mic works really well to. If anyone has done this what are some good headphones at that price?

Thanks.

Than how will I hear where shots are coming from and people walking up behind me in Battlefield 4? or hear people scavenging in house's or creeping in the bushes in DayZ?

If you dont have a built in amp in a sound card, I recommend that Astro Mixamp, especially if you have optical audio output. It makes all my games sound amazing and you don't have to use their headset. Just make sure its a headset you like that are not earbuds really. Also makes using Skype or any VoIP more managable during gameplay.
