Is it safe to say the Steam Machine is gonna end up as a huge failure for Valve?

I don't see anyone at all having much of an interest in it and if it's console gamers they're aiming for here, it'd be mistake to think that. Everyone who wants a console or controller can just buy a Xbone or PS4 and if you want to play Steam games, you can just hook up a controller to your PC.

So really, what's there to buy into the steam machine for?

Well two things to remember. One, sometimes markets can be fickle, great ideas fail, underrated ideas succeed. Two, just because you don't personally have an interest or need, and can't conceive of there being a need or want, it's a mistake to project that onto all other gamers everywhere.

After all, ~40 years ago, lots of really smart people couldn't see why regular people would want or need a computer. But they were wrong, and some visionaries changed the world. Sometimes you just have to wait and see how things shake out, you never really know what will stick except in hindsight.

Steam Machine might not be a huge success, but i believe Steam OS will be and that is really all that matters. Steam OS is steams way of distancing themselves from M$ as they try to kill windows.
it might actually save mouse and keyboard gaming.
