Hey PCH, what's the most NOOB thing you've done with a PC?

Before I started getting into computer tech, I had a Dell Dimension 4550 as a hand-me-down. I ignored all the Windows updates and eventually my firmware was so outdated Google wouldn't work for me.

After building a computer for a friend, it used a Cooler Master case I believe. I was putting it on top of the table to put the side panel on and call it done. I didn't notice that it had rubber feet, so when I sat the tower on the table, the first rubber foot snagged the table and popped it right off and broke it. I felt so bad. x_x"

Took a prebuilt into a repair shop. The prebuilt cost $600, the shop charged me $400 and didn't even fix anything.

sounds like any computer shop i know, i tell them to either build their own or get it from dell etc. their support is decent at least. all the computer fix it stores here i tell everyone to stay away from since i know of multiple people with the same problem when they come out of the place.

Yeah Dell sucks but their support isn't half bad.

My friend sent in his dell laptop probably 6 times while we were in college, fixed for free every time.

Tried to crossfire a 6870 with a 7770.

The worst part is that I still haven't taken out the 7770 even though it's not doing anything.

Tweaked a register path for my user profile about a year ago overwriting the profile with an empty one. Nearly lost about 2TB worth of music, pictures, movies and irreplaceable documents. Piriform's Recuva saved my a** though thankfully.

I bought a brand new Athlon 3400+ and went to install it. It had a sticker on it which I hadn't seen on a CPU before. I wasn't sure if I should take it off or leave it. I left it. It fried my CPU and I had to go spend another $300 on another one.

Honestly, that's the only dumb thing I've ever done with a system. It was in my early days of system building, probably just my 3rd system or so.
