Backing up a gmail inbox. Anyone know how?

#1gldooriiPosted 1/22/2014 2:21:16 PM
I'm at work and I was given the task of taking a client's gmail account and printing everything from Oct 2012 to Sept 2013. There are about 3000+ emails and I have to go one by one and print them out...

Is there at all any way to export or save the inbox to my computer? I thought that maybe I could connect the gmail account to my Outlook at work, but will that only show new emails received or old ones as well? I was thinking I could just make a duplicate and drag/drop the emails from the dates I need into another folder.

Some help would be great. Thanks.

Google the NSA's phone number. They have all your data in their archive.

Just call them and ask for a copy.

But seriously though, if you set it up in outlook, at least when I did it in thunderbird 2, it downloaded every email. Make sure it's enabled to keep a copy of the email on the server or you might accidentally erase them all.

Just choose the data you want to download and you will get it all in a .zip folder, but the mail archives do take a while to prepare for some reason.

Why on earth would a person tell you to print 3000 emails? Is it some criminal investigation? Is your boss insane?

Everything you searched for, unless you turned it off of course some find it weird I find it useful when you forgot to bookmark a site and weren't entirely sure how you got there.

Have an Android phone with location access turned on, you can view were you've been minute by minute over the past 30 days

Cool huh?

There is no reason to print 3000 emails unless 3000 of them are evidence.

Why wouldn't he just have you only print the ones he wanted or something what the hell. That guy is just wasting your time but if he's paying for it I guess you shall do it! -_-;

The Judge ordered that they all be provided. Nothing we can do about it. I figured out how to get it to sync to my Outlook through POP3. Thanks for the help guys.

Yeah, turning everything over is extremely normal. It's on the court to decide which e-mails are or aren't evidence, not the company.

EDIT: That being said, the company could fight/argue that certain ones not be turned over due to valuable information within them, as long as they aren't clear evidence in the case.
