Guild Wars 2 is underrated

#1Retroxgamer0Posted 1/23/2014 1:07:59 AM
According to statistics that were researched by Anet that i pulled off of the internet, GW2 was the best selling MMORPG launch in history based on it's intiial launch. More so than WoW, Everquest, and all of the others. It's not even top 10 here on GFaqs, which makes it underrated.

Just because something's popular, doesn't make it good.

Call of Duty sold more than Portal.

Yeah but lets be honest, that really isn't hard considering WoW and especially Everquest launched when the genre was still in its infancy. GW2 launched with what, 1 million in sales within the first weak? I would bet that's more than the total number of people that even played MMO's when WoW launched. Well probably not, but you get what I'm saying I'm sure.

I rather enjoyed Guild Wars 2 and played it for a damn long time.

The reason I played it was for PvP, though, and Anet has been giving PvE update after PvE update. The PvP updates have been pretty underwhelming overall and there's only so much structured PvP and WvWvW I can do before it feels very dull.

I think that among the MMO's that came out in the last decade or so, GW1&GW2 are one of the few that were able to successfully carve out their own niche within the genre, and deliver on its promises. I played the game out of curiosity and thought it was pretty good.

However, there are certain things missing, which was not because the game failed, but pretty much by design. For example, I like tackling dungeons in a strategic way, with people having predefined roles. People always want to get rid of the trinity, but I would rather see it being improved rather than being removed, which causes everything to devolve into a spam fest.

I miss playing Guild Wars 2. My little brother and I bought it together, but we hardly have time to game together, and he ended up finishing the story without me, so I'm stuck at level 50 with nobody to play with, and it's not really fun that way.
I bought it on release and haven't much in the past year.
