Anyone recommend an Xbone crusher PC build for $499?

Can someone explain why prices aren't dropping on some of the Intel chips from 2 gens ago? I figured I could find an I5 2500k for under $150, you know, because they're old?

Because they are still some of the most powerful chips on the market.

Yeah but I'm not seeing ANY price drop from when they're still basically $220 which is what they released at. The exact same price as the newer, more powerful chips that replaced them. Doesn't make any sense to me. I was expecting older hardware to be slightly cheaper.

I don't think their production costs diminish, so there's no reason for Intel to sell them for less.

Intel has never really dropped the price on it's old parts.

In a year or two you can. 2, 4, 6 years down the road is when the PC shows its superiority.

I was looking into the I3 4130, but I can't find ANY gaming benchmarks other than skyrim and shogun total war and I've searched for 15 minutes.

Then look up the older ones. I'm using a 2120 here, it's about 15% slower than a 4120, if I've been paying enough attention to the intel releases. Really pisses me off that I bought it the day before they released the 3100, but eh. Plays all the games I want,is strong to hold 30+ FPS in BF4. Could probably swing my build for $500 or so. 1tb hdd, 4 gigs ram, i3, and a 7870. Won't get as nice a 7870, but that's just cooling and overclocking stuff, not what I expect from someone aiming for the low end.

Oh, and try for 8 gigs of ram if you can. The 4 gigs hurts me in some games more than others, but it's always a bit of a pain.
