Gaming Mouse

#1legendaryhero99Posted 1/23/2014 2:33:16 PM
So my current mouse (Tron Razer mouse) is dying and I've decided to replace it. I saw that my local best buy has a Logitech G500s Laser Gaming Mouse. Would you guys recommend that or any mouse in that price range (its on sale for $50).

G400S has the better sensor.

This is by far the best mouse I've ever owned:

Everything you could possibly want from a gaming mouse is here: 7 DPI settings, optional weights, horizontal scrolling, 9 fully programmable buttons (11 if you count the DPI switch but I don't know why anybody would remap that). Hair triggers for left- & right-click. Supports 1000Hz polling rate. Shame they only make it in red, now. Just don't drop it too many times or it'll eventually stop working.

I personally can not recommend the G500
-Sensor has acceleration (distance and speed play a role with how mouse movement impact what happens on screen)
-It is super heavy with a useless weight system
-wheel that is great in mice like the MX revolution with side-scroll and free-scroll options has no business being on a gaming mouse where it is a wobbly mess, terrible for gaming
-Location of the sensor on the bottom is not centered.

Imo, if you like the shape of the Logitech mice, go for the G400s, which is the superior mouse.

Other great mice in that price range are perhaps the Deathadder. The 2013 one is pretty expensive, but you can get the 3.5G pretty cheap. It does have a fairly high lift off distance though. I picked up a special edition 3.5G with glossy coating for as little as 25 euros.

Other mice that are often recommended are the Zowie mice, but they are in a different price category. The cooler master Storm Spawn is also a good mouse and not expensive.

If you want to go really cheap, you could also opt for the old Microsoft mice that have the STMicroelectronics OS MLT 04 sensor, like the WMO 1.1, IMO 1.1, IME 3.0.

All the mice I recommended are optical mice with no prediction and no acceleration. They have great sensors.

Logitech G602

I have it, it's gotten great reviews.

I personally recommend it as the universal mouse that can fill most peoples needs.

Zowie ec2 eVo
Cooler Master Storm Spawn
Razer Death Adder (will probably break on you within a year)

All these mice have flawless tracking, and encompass plenty of variety in shape.

I'm personally a huge fan of the corsair M65. Pretty straight forward mouse, and it really tracks well.
