like topic says, I want a mechanical keyboard. except it will be for my laptop ( ok to use an external keyboard right?)

I have found this one: http://www.argos.co.uk/m/static/Search/searchTerms/MECHANICAL+KEYBOARDS.htm

then:http://www.argos.co.uk/m/static/Product/partNumber/1411928/Trail/searchtext%3ELOGITECH+KEYBOARDS.html

is this last one a true keyboard?

are they any good? anyone got any recommendations for a keyboard, possibly below 100?

The 2nd link is a normal keyboard, it just have light but the keys are not mechanical.

I would recommend you this one:

Is a real mechanical keyboard, with MX blue cherry switches. There are also versions with brown and red switches that are $10 more expensive.

Best bang for your buck mechanical are the Cooler Master Quickfire line. They use Costar stabilizers, which are better than the Cherry ones used by most boards, and they have comparable quality to a Filco for much less.

If you want to talk about the best you can get, that depends on whether or not you want backlighting.

If you do, the Deck Legend is the best by far. It doesn't have any gimmicky extra keys or whatever, it's all about exceptional build quality. The way the print the keycaps means the lettering will never fade or rub off, and that's why it's so expensive.

If you don't, then get the Filco Majestouch V2.

Don't buy one from Argos, My suggestion is to find the closest PcWorld and go in and test some keyboards that they have on display. For under 100 the Corsair K65 is a good deal, or if you want something no frills Steelseries 6V2, you won't be able to get a Ducky/Das/filco shipped to the Uk for your budget.

Pick that up, try em out, go from there. Switches are not one size fits all. Find which one feels best for you. Never listen to people who say you should go for any switch over another, cause they're just telling you THEIR preference. You're not them

What's the difference in mechanical from standard?

Try one and you'll see. Pretty much, I will never use a standard after having used a mechanical

Great advice here, only problem is it looks like he's in the UK cheapest shipping is $7ish and could likely take anything upto 2 weeks or so.
