This is a split board - You can return to the Split List for other boards.

I have $800 and very little confidence in my thoroughness.

I have every plan to search myself but I have a problem when it comes to compatibility. I always end up over looking something.

So if anyone has a list of components in the 7-800 range I would appreciate it greatly.

As far as my hopes I just want to be able to run something like Planetside2 reasonably. Not on high or anything. I would be more specific but I am typing this on my phone.

There really isn't much you need to worry about, aside from CPU socket stuff. Just be sure whatever CPU you're buying will fit into whatever motherboard you get. Another thing is, don't try to fit an ATX standard motherboard into a micro ATX. It won't work.

I'm not sure if it checks for power supplies and cases. I think it does, so check http://pcpartpicker.com/ and you should have no problems picking the parts that will work together.

Do you have/need a monitor? Keyboard/mouse? Speakers?

I built my friend a pretty good gaming rig with the same budget, though he didn't need any of the aforementioned peripherals.

Check out this website: logicalincrements.com/ it should give you a good idea of what you want for the price range you're in.

I'd get an i5 4670k and compatible MB
Get a DVD drive instead of BR
Spend some extra money on a GTX-770

Other than that it looks good to me though.

Save some money.

Go for this: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2GY0R

Ofc, GTX 770 is better but this is the closest I could get to your initial budget.
Expect every game on high, and *maybe* a few on ultra.

He can play most games on ultra with a 760. I got a lot worse of a card and I play most games on ultra.
