I need a computer that I can game and edit videos/make films on. I heard 5 is better for gaming and 7 is better for film editting. Is one still moreover beneficial than the other?

Price isnt a factor

If you actually do a considerable amount of encoding and video editing, an i7 is definitely the way to go.

If price isn't a factor, there's literally no reason to choose the i5.

No reason to settle for less when price isn't a issue, i7 all the way.

Thanks

lastly, and im not too good with these terms so bare with me: if I had the choice between an I7 at 3.5 processing speed and I5 with 4.1 processing speed, is I7 still the way to go?

The only reason people recommend the i5 over the i7 for gaming is because you won't see THAT much difference between the two for gaming performance to justify the extra price you pay for the i7.
