Sometimes you can, but it's not recommended. They're often soldered to the mother board, buying a separate laptop CPU is often expensive and the performance gain is often very small due to the fact that you're very limited in which CPUs fit the board.

Only on really high end ones. If your laptop cost less than $1500.00 it's probably impossible.
