I would like to be apart of the instant boot master race.

I have some crap 75GB Hitachi HDD for my OS, but I use a WD Black 1TB for my Steam/games and a 500GB WD for recording. I also have a WD 1TB external, but I have yet to obtain a single SSD.

I'm always hearing about these fast boot times and speeds, I want in... WHAT IS THY BIDDING MASTER?.... (race).

WHAT DO I BUY for the upgrade. (I don't know anything about SSD's, so if you don't help me out I'll go on newegg and buy the first SSD that I see with the highest positive amount of reviews).

:p

I would go with the 250gb version rather than the 120. There was a benchmark that showed a good speed boost, and the more free space on the drive, the longer it will last.

I would go with the 840 Evo between the two of those. I went with a 256GB 840 pro myself though. While it's not an instant boot it is tons faster than an HDD. The biggest thing though, and what is basically instant, is no more tracking time. What might take 8ms on an HDD takes a fraction of a single millisecond on an SSD. I haven't used a slow mechanical drive in forever, even my mechanical ones have been relatively quick, but it also eliminates 'wake up' time, not sure if that's an issue at all with 7/8 though.

Money isn't that much of an issue, but that is quite a price difference. Is it really worth it considering this will be for my main/OS drive? Err, or considering that I'm just looking for a quick replacement that gets the job done. Idk, something like that.

I have the 120GB and while more space would obviously be nice I have more than enough to fit the few games that benefit considerably.

NTFS junctions make it pretty simple.

I have a 120GB, but with Windows I only really have room for about 2 games.

I also think the Samsung 250 will be worth it in the long run. Up to you though.
