I actually check gamerankings.com. I also couldn't care less about what users say about games. I don't trust them farther than I could throw a skyscraper.

Ummm. I just ask around or look around at user opinions. (No, not gamefaqs user reviews). Maybe I'll dip into one official / "professional" review.

that.

though sometimes i also check for other input on some stragglers here and there when games are clearly over and/or underrated and not just for sites giving a score purely meant for the shock factor and/or attracting viewer attention.

eg. deadly premonition getting a 10 from destructoid or the skyward sword 7.5 fiasco from GS etc.

Neither. Relying on review scores is a crap shoot at best.

I read the reviews from both positive and negative angles and decide from there. If someone mentions something in both positive and negative reviews, it's likely close to the truth. If the positive review is nothing but praise, well then I can't trust it. If the negative review is nothing but hate then I can't trust it either. The more moderate the review the more trustworthy it is (in general).

Why on Earth should I pay attention to the opinions of inferior people? I just watch other people playing the game and I make my mind.
