It depends on the laptop, the Asus G71 and G72 could drop 10 or more degrees with a good cooler due to where their vents were located.

Every Asus I have owned, including the G73jh I had, had terrible thermal paste. Repasting it fixed all heating issues and the cooler became pretty much useless. It is like this with basically any laptop.

Alienware is overpriced garbage!!! NEVER BUY IT.

Though for gaming laptops I would search for the Asus series of laptops. They are top notch as long as you don't need to leave source of charging for more than an hour or so but that's pretty standard for high powered laptops.

Overpriced? Yes. Garbage? I don't think so.

Actually they're not overpriced, either, when you consider the level of support you get from Dell. Spec for spec, they're not that much more expensive.

Sager will give you the best bang for your buck, but the build quality on the lower models (that still have high end hardware) is not great. My Sager is coming up on two years and has been quite good to me, but it gets hot and loud.

The higher model Sagers have much better build quality, but you pay for it as well.

Sorry, can't give exact recs since I haven't paid attention to this generation of models.

Alienware uses the same parts Dell does in a snazzy case and a 30% markup. They are garbage.
