Static sound through earphones

The static only happens while playing Final Fantasy XIV. Does anyone know what could cause this? Especially since it only happens with one program..

By chance are you using AMD GPU's with the latest driver? If so I had the same issue and had to downgrade my drivers to an October release to correct the issue. My 290x's hated that driver released in December.

No, Nvidia.

Are you using the front plug on your case?
Try using the rear port on your motherboard.

You could be picking up some electrical interference when your GPU is being taxed.
The front audio ports on PC cases can be prone to electrical interference from other components.
Electrical interference can happen on the ports on the motherboard as well but it is less likely.

Have you accepted Raspberyl as your loli and savior?

It's an interference/grounding issue, probably from the sound from your GPU firing up causing interference.

Using an external DAC will solve this problem and give you better sound to boot.
