Trying to play rust on my laptop, and it keeps stuttering?

#1OnlineBadAssPosted 1/31/2014 3:09:03 PM
So I got my lenovo ideapad y510p about 7 months ago and haven't really been gaming on it. I decided to pick up Rust last night and whenever I play it either the frames are awful or it keeps freezing every 10 seconds especially when something happens. I have the in-game settings on "fastest" and I even turned off the grass and it still stutters.

My laptop meets the recommended specs but it still can't run it properly. I was thinking that maybe my GPU settings are off.

SPECS:
Intel Core i7-4700MQ 2.4 GHz Processor (6 MB Cache)
8 GB DDR3 RAM
Bluetooth Version 4.0, 1 TB 5400 rpm HDD and 24 GB Solid-State Drive Memory

It's early access. It probably doesn't support your hardware yet. All the fun of beta at all the cost of retail!

Is that one of the ones that switch between on board and discrete? Make sure it's turned on.

The options I can change are

Sliding bar from performance -> quality. Set to performance.

"Manage 3D settings"
1. select a program to customize (can't choose rust)
2. select the preferred graphics processor for this program.
3. Specify the settings for this program (bunch of options I haven't touched)

I tried choosing Rust as the program but it doesn't do anything when I select it.

Finally, Set PhysX configuration
Dropbox w/ 2 options.
GeForce GT 750M and CPU

I have it on the GeForce setting.

2. select the preferred graphics processor for this program.

if you can't do much with this then LoLearlyaccessbetaalphazeta and all.

also, turning off physx completely might help... though maybe you can't do that either if you say the dropbox only has those two options.

The last dropbox has a recommended option "auto-select" should it be on that instead?
