Let's say I want an NVIDIA Shield eventually, but only have a GTX 570...

If I wanted to SLI, give myself streaming capabilities to the SHIELD, and give myself a bit of a boost for what "next gen" has to offer, what would be the best GPU to combine with my 570 that gives me the most bang for my buck?

Can't be done.

You must have a kepler based GPU to do streaming. Your best bet is to get rid of the 570 and buy a 700 or 800 series card and a discounted SHIELD.

Probly a 760.
EDIT: You wouldn't be able to SLI anything that would work with a 570 from this gen. IIRC 570 uses fermi architecture, while nvidia cards nowadays use Kepler (As well as have a built in H.264 encoder which makes shield streaming work.)

And why would you want a shield anyways? I personally have one, and I do love it, but I will admit it's a very niche product. Not many people have a use for it.

If you already have an android tablet there's no real reason to get an NVIDIA shield. Unless you really wanna get up and around the house to play your games (or if you're feeling super edgy and cool, set up a relay so you can play them from a friend's wifi) then it's really a big waste of moni.

I see, thank you for the insight. :D For what it's worth I'm just better off waiting.

I'm not really into the tablet scene, and thought it would be nifty to play my Steam games from a wi-fi connection. But I'm not really willing to drop the money on it right now because I know it'll go below $250 soon enough.

You read what I edited into my post right? You can't SLI anything from this gen with a 570.

Yup, I saw it from the other guy above as well. I was just answering your other question about why I'd want a SHIELD.
