How good are Lenovo Laptops? Looking for something that will last me a few years

How good are Lenovo Laptops?
I am looking for something strong, and able to last me a few years.

I am going to be using the laptop for digital capturing and recording until I can get the data to a monolith I call a PC up in my room.

I bought a HP DV6 back in 2010-2011 and it's really starting to screw up.
I treat it like it was my baby, but the screen has a static like flicker constantly around the edge, the ethernet port no longer works and the 3.0 USB Ports flick on and off regularly while using them.

It is an AMD A8-3500 with 8gigs of ram and an dedicated video card. (It's a Hybrid video card, when not plugged in it uses onboard, when plugged in it uses the dedicated card). I needed the card since I do work on some light rendering work.

I am also trying to figure out just how good AMD is, since the best AMD laptop is comparable but slightly worse then an I5 4200M processor, but I cannot find an I5 system with a dedicated card.

So any suggestions on what to look for would help.

Their upper tier gaming machines are actually nice. Their lower end is just as crappy as anyone else's.

Just make sure that the F-lock/Fn key isn't where Ctrl is supposed to be.

I am just looking for something more durable then this HP.
The fact the ethernet, USB and monitor are going and it's been treated as a holic relic...

Which configuration of the Y510p are you interested in? If you are looking at the top model, you can save $50 buying it through the Barnes and Noble Gold program. For a $999, that's a pretty sweet machine.

I would highly recommend saving another $60 and getting the 59401487 because it has a 1080p screen instead of 1366x768. Trust me, I have a Y580 and the 1080p screen is really nice.

I have a budget lenovo laptop and it has done me wonders. It seems to have way more solid build quality than my previous gaming laptop and runs pretty cool how cheap it was. Obviously their business laptops are top of the line for a lot less.
