I think you're still to go. The part that got chipped off is just a part of a locking mechanism used with some motherboards.

Ok thanks for the responses will help me sleep better atleast, ill try again when I wake up in the morning. Ill see if I can get someone to help me to do it

Another thing, my mobo seemed to have a round dot of grime or something on it the size of a punch hole(bag was not taped but had zip ties around the standoff with holes connecting to foam. Bag also had holes the size of punch holes on it which I read was normal) how would I clean it? Its only visible at certain angles in light and seems to be on an empty space of the board. Not sure how (kept my fingers away and no food ect...)but I noticed it as I was putting my side pannel back on for the night. Guess it could be a sweat drop but idk.

Seems like when I have some sort of problem they tend to just keep coming lol...

well if its small and you are careful you can probably clean it off with some isopropyl alcohol (>=90%). just use a cotton swab dipped in the alcohol, and remember to let the mobo dry afterwards.

Ok thanks. Its small but not near anything (looks to be an empty spot on the board) too close. Its under the RAM but I can get at it without touching anything

I cant get it in and I am honestly a bit too nervous to do it now. I know I will not be able to sleep at all with it on my mind

I've had that problem quite a lot before.
