Pretty awesome book here.

Not that I agree with the entire list.... but for something with a thousand games on it, I'm honestly surprised at how much I do agree with... tons of PC stuff on this, most of which I've never played =(

Here's a link to the list:

I would be upset by that, but the lack of games like Skyrim, Bioshock Infinite, and The Last of Us makes me perfectly content with something so minor.

Dammit, it came out in 2010, never mind.

Is Demon's Souls on it, then?

Skyrim should have been on it anyways, they should have known by then that it was going to be the best game of all time.

I've actually played a bunch of these games and some of them are on the list simply because they were awesome games for their time...the problem is, if you saw them today you'd think the list writer was crazy for including them. Adventure (as in the game on the Atari 2600?) is a pixel moving around a blocky castle being chased by what looks like a duck as he tries to move a chalice from one room to the next. Sounds riveting doesn't it? The pixel's main weapon is what looks like an arrow. -> about like that.

Now... if you were born before 1980 you might have fond memories of that game. If you were born after 1985 you probably think it's a load of crap and why is everyone talking about it?

Maybe they should make all kids play through the entire history of video games before they're allowed to play modern games? e.g. If you're 5 years old you get Atari 2600 games, 8 years old you get Intellivision games, at 10 you get Colecovision or Atari 5200 games, 11 years old you get NES games, 16 and you get Genesis games, and so on.

tl;dr this is just another list of games that nobody cares about unless of course you actually remember playing them and then you think "OMG This is so true!".

It's almost like someone just threw together a list of games they've seen about and called it "1001 games you *have* to play."

Armadillo Run? Seriously? What about it makes it better than The Incredible Machine? What makes Gorf better than other Breakout-style games? Especially since Breakout is also on the list? Columns *and* Dr. Mario, but no C&C Generals Zero Hour?

That is a friggin' awful, random, and pointless list. Sure there are some good games on it, but that's just a result of sheer volume. Throw an entire pot of spaghetti at the wall and some noodles are bound to stick. That seems all this is. There is zero rhyme or reason to the list.
