question about this motherboard (ram related)

Asrock FM2A88X-ITX+

it says on newegg that it supports 2400mhz ram (oc). What does that mean when I go to buy ram for it? Do I buy 2133 and oc it, or just buy 2400 straight up? I know its usually dumb to buy high MHz ram, but its for an apu build so the higher the better for me, I'm just not too sure what I need to actually get that 2400mhz.

It simply saying it supports RAM up to that speed. If you want the 2400mhz RAM then you should buy RAM sticks which is rated for 2400, not 2133 or below. It will run at default speed at start and you need to adjust the speed and voltage in the bios. For gaming, anything above 1866 is rather pointless though, you won't be getting much improvement beyond that.

its rather odd that it says 2400 with a (oc) beside it, but for 2133 it doesn't. That's why I am confused about which ram to buy. It kinda made me think I could oc 2133 ram to 2400, but I would just assume buy the 2400 stock and use that if it'll run at 2400 from the start.

also, its absolutely not pointless in an APU build to go above 1866mhz.
