Hey guys, fan on my Hyper 212+ is dying...any tips on a replacement?

#1Artemis_FeiPosted 2/9/2014 9:00:53 PM
For a couple weeks now, it's been making a pretty loud whirring sound, and when I finally opened it up, I found that it's fan speed is starting to be erratic and slowing down, even turning off at some points.

I'm pretty sure it's the fan itself, since I don't think there's anything wrong with my motherboard.

Any ideas on a replacement heatsink fan for a Hyper 212+?

you could get something like this and do push/pull for pretty cheap (if the 212+ comes with a second set of mounting anyway)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103022

and if you decide on that you might need a cable like this:

I'd recommend Noctua NF-F12 or Scythe Gentle Typhoon, though I think they costs a bit more.

Gah. I forgot I already used the spare mounting bracket they gave me for my Hyper 212.

Is there a place I can get that?

I still see them in Newegg, probably last batches. But do you know what an even weirder thing about them? It proudly print 'MADE IN INDONESIA' down there, yet it is extremely difficult to find in Indonesia while Corsair and Noctua fans are everywhere.

Just take the one off of your broken fan.
It is only held on by a couple screws with foam rubber tape covering them to reduce vibration noise.

I have almost the same Cougar fan mentioned earlier in the topic on my Hyper 212.
I have the CF-V12H while the one mentioned before is the CF-V12HP.
The first one is rated at 1,200 rpm max and the second is rated at 1,500 rpm max, otherwise they are identical.
Even with my fan profile set pretty low my 2500k rarely gets higher than the low 50c range while gaming.

Thanks guys! I just ordered the Noctua NF-F12.

Do you guys recommend a push or pull setup with this fan?
