Hey guys, weird thing happening with GPU today

#1DinglesteedPosted 2/9/2014 10:14:20 PM
Hey, just today I started noticing that while playing WoW, my screen kind of , flickers black for just a split second and comes back. I play in windowed mode, and the taskbar stays up the whole time so it's just WoW that it is happening with (that I have noticed). Every so often when it flickers it looks like a window or tab is opening up on the taskbar but it disappears so fast you can barely see it.

I read about a few people having this issue but nobody seems to have posted a fix. Just thought I'd ask here to see if anyone has a clue what could be causing this?

My GPU is a radeon hd 7970. Thanks!

I am not exactly sure, but that looks like a program is opening up when you start the game, I doubt it has anything to do with the GPU. Might be they added some program into the game, though hopefully isn't a malware of some sort.

I'm almost to the point of buying a 770 gtx just to get away from AMD. My last AMD card (4850) had driver issues and this one hasn't been much better. Ugh!

i had a lot of problems with my 5770 also. i would recommend switching just for the vast improvement in software. I got a 660ti about a year ago and haven't a single problem with drivers or the control panel software. Also, geforce experience and shadowplay are both pretty cool

I still recommend selling the 7970 for another reason though. Its price has skyroketed because of bitcoin mining craze. Good chance by switching to 770, not only you get better performance, but also some money for your troubles. Also you get access to use gsync if you want a new monitor.

Even the stock reference 770 is already good and pretty quiet with the Titan cooler, Superclocked is even better.

Cool, I'll just order it tomorrow morning. Haven't been impressed with the 7970 honestly. Gets good fps, but I've had more flickers and little quirks in 4 months then I had in 4 years with my old gtx570.
