Best gamepad to use?

Is the Xbox 360 controller still the best option for a controller on PC? Can I use an Xbox One controller or even a PS4 controller without having to mess around with a bunch of software? Just install the drivers and go?

As far as native support in games, a 360 controller is still the best way to go. Expect that to change once the XBone controller gets an official driver.

Will the Xbox One controller be supported eventually on PC with a wired version of it? Should I just wait for the Steam controller to launch?

I don't like XBox controllers. I've always been a Logitech fan. I currently use a Logitech F310 and before that it as a Logitech Dual Action. Both gamepads have been great. The 5310 supports both DirectInput and XInput, so it works with every game.

yes to the first one. as for the steam controller, not many people can really answer that as so few have ever even held one in their hands. and they are not coming out until like fall of 2014 anyway

Ds3 or ds4.

I use the ds3 more because it's wireless. Just download the ds3 tool and every game sees it as a 360 controller minus the garbage wad that is the 360 controller. I got one of them at launch and threw it out as soon as this came out lol.

The ds4 works too but it needs a wire and another program as well to emulate the 360 controller and yea I'd wait on that one. It takes me 2 seconds to get the ps3 controller ready and a few min for the ps4.

DS4 does not need a wire. Bluetooth works just fine. DS3 is also trash in comparison (IMO of course). The horrible triggers, the convex thumbsticks, the weak tension of said thumbsticks. The DS4 improves on all those and even adds in a WORKING track pad that can be used to emulate a mouse.

Personally I use a micro usb cable as my bluetooth reception is garbage due to interference (probably going to get cancer soon :P) but my ds3 has the exact same issues so its not likely the ds4's fault and it does work fine if I get within 4 feet of my machine.

Edit: To add to the simplicity, I have the SCPserver program set to start up with windows so my ds4 is always ready to go. Custom LED color, full rumble and trackpad put it above all the other controllers I've used and I've used all the mainstream ones.

Dualshock 4 with SCP server. Feels so good and it's easy to install just watch a 2 minute tutorial on Youtube.

Depends on the game.

360 for most, PS4 controller for games that need a solid D pad.

Really excited for the steam controller so I can play games that require more than analogues to control them effectively.

Wireless 360 controller is good and every game that supports controllers has the controls all mapped out by default. I've heard good things about PS4.
