Hello everyone. I just built a new computer and I'm running the ASUS Maximus VI Formula as my MOBO. I currently have an SSD installed, and an external disk drive with Windows 8.1 Professional inside. When I boot my computer, it doesn't recognize the disk, and instead boots into the BIOS. I removed my old HDD that needs formatted from the hot swap bay, and I'm currently staring at the BIOS.

Everytime I try to run the external disk drive, I see a black screen with white underscores blinking for a few seconds, and then it goes straight back to the BIOS. I'm pretty concerned, can anybody please help?

Did you mount the iso to be a bootable iso on your external HDD?

I'm not sure why, but I switched the external disk drive from the front of my PC to the back, and everything works now. It's installing smoothly as of right now. Can I format my old HDD from within the OS? Or no?

I did not use an iso, it was a install disk directly from my university. Weird fix, though, as mentioned above. Thanks for the help!
