Software to change DPI on the fly?

#1fenderbender321Posted 2/18/2014 1:17:40 PM(edited)
Hey all my rat7 crapped out on me and since I play a lot of BF4 I was hopping there would be some cheap, free software to change the DPI on the fly by pressing a key on my keyboard. Driving vehicles in BF4 needs DPI switching to be effective unless you want to be picking your mouse up and dragging it across your desk 5 times.

I figured it must exist since really all it is is assigning a button to to increase that DPI setting in control panel. Thanks for any help in advance!

Well that's your fault for buying an inferior product that doesn't have active DPI scaling built in .

LOL it was actually a hand-me-down I got for free. I'm pretty broke but when I do buy a mouse I will do my homework for sure (and note your advice).

DPI is adjusted at the hardware level, so no piece of software will let you adjust it on the fly. There might be software that lets you adjust the Windows mouse sensitivity with a hotkey, but I highly recommend against it, because any setting other than the middle causes the mouse to skip pixels, reducing accuracy.

tl;dr: Buy a better mouse.

EDIT: BTW, you can set the vehicle sensitivity independently from aiming sensitivity in BF4.

I suggest the Logitech G700s. It does everything, and is perfect for everyone.

Unless you need those specific functions the 700s has over the 400s, there is no reason to get a 500s or 700s over the 400s since they are shaped the same for the most part.

Plus the 400s has a superior sensor.

If you use 1000+ DPI you'll probably never notice. And if you don't have mouse acceleration turned off, you'll definitely never notice.

The sensor has 5% or so built-in acceleration that cannot be removed. It's very noticeable for low sensitivity players like myself.

Couple this with the fact that the G700S is much more expensive, and like the other poster said, there's really no reason to get it unless you need wireless or the extra buttons.
