Hawken is a major let down because of controller issues

#1VoelgerPosted 2/18/2014 3:01:14 PM
I bought the game on steam and researched and found out that you could use a controller. I am using big picture mode connected to my tv. I figured Hawken sounded really cool, and considering that it is similiar to fps controls it would work really well with a controller.

it doesn't work well at all. I cant jump or hover, I cant even access the game with a controller because it constantly has prompts that require only a keyboard to get past- like the start when it makes you sign in- it wont auto login, and the controller wont work to sign in. Hawken seems to be a mojor bust. 29.99 down the drain :(

PC hardware doesn't need to match console hardware in price when PC gamers save literal thousands from the software they buy.

The Steam controller is a piece of s***. Dat button placement.

A friend of mine tried it at CES '14 and said it felt very awkward.

I booted my copy up and did a match before this, to make sure I knew where I stood.

I've been playing the game on and off since a while back, well before it came to Steam, and I've never had a problem using my Wired 360 Controller. There ARE some elements of some of the menus that I need to use the mouse, but I can jump/hover and all of that no problem.

Keep playing around with the controls in the options menu, best I can say. Maybe it didn't preset some of the obvious stuff, like the jump, maybe?

You're trying to play an online shooter on PC with a controller.

Even if it worked you'd get slaughtered by lesser skilled players using KB+M

Probably not in Hawken. It's pretty slow paced and turn speed is capped, you can't flick shoot.
