120Hz monitor for gaming suggestion?

So basically with that monitor I just run the program and I'm good? Does it reduce the life or do anything negative?

It's not doing anything but strobing the LED backlight.... so no, there's no moving parts, it's not overclocking your monitor, it's not going to fry anything... it makes a huge difference in the picture quality.

Otherwise the monitor is good for all types of gaming?

After getting the program running I've had zero problems with any game I've thrown at it... before using the program, the motion blur effect would be noticeable in a few games but not in all of them.

I was reading up the ASUS has contrast/color issues.

I've got two monitors side by side, one is the ASUS and another is a 60hz LG. The color on the LG is pretty good and once I took the time to calibrate the color on the ASUS (installing a color profile I downloaded and adjusting the contrast and color saturation with the nVidia control panel) it looks every bit as good as the LG next to it.

Both are 144hz, they cost the same when they came out, and general consensus is that they're pretty much identical in terms of the LCD it's self.
It's not uncommon for competing brands to buy panels from the same source. And they're both 144hz specifically. Not 143hz, not 145hz, not 140hz, but 144hz.

Ah gotcha, so you're just assuming they're the same because the specs are similar. That's kinda what I was assuming what you were doing, but just seeing if I was missing something obvious out there.

While they may be the same (I personally don't believe they are), just because the specs are similar doesn't mean they are the exact same panel.

It's pretty unlikely that there's a surplus of different 144hz 24inch gaming-calibrated LCD models out there. :>
There's really nothing at all to suggest they're using different panels.

And other than the specs being similar, there's really nothing to suggest they're using the same one panel either I also think you're focusing a bit to much on the fact they're both 144hz.

Now, don't get me wrong, they easily could be the same panel. I just need a little more than specs being similar to make the claim they are identical.

They're both 144hz and the exact same size.
144hz isn't really a common refreshrate, and there's nothing to differentiate the two.
That's not really similar, btw. The specs are exactly the same, and it's not exactly a common trend.

It's cool man. I understand you think they're the same panel. And i'm going to continue to say that I would need something more than similarities to make the claim they're the same panel.

No real reason to continue the back and forth, seems we came to an understanding awhile ago.

Tear them down and check then.

Pretty much, everything else looks washed out in comparison and they don't ever seem to have good stands.

Or

The Z is newer and I don't know too much about it, but apparently the Z is PWM free and cheaper.

PWM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPfI7XYGch8 is a bad effect that most of us don't notice that we suffer from.
