Should I be worries buying a sony vaio from ebay?

#1Kuja_88Posted 2/19/2014 2:27:12 PM
I was just on ebay and there was some other discussion here about them selling fake merchindise sometimes. For example if you search xbox 360 hard drive some times you'll get these fake hardrives in your result for a cheap 40.

Anyway I searched sony vaio on ebay and I found out there are many different types of sony vaio's some of them for unbelievable prices such as 250

Anyway, they don't look like the current sony vaio's in the sony store 2014. But I wasn't looking for that anyway I was looking for one that looks like the one's they used to sell in 2008-2009. One in specific I that I really liked was : (http://www.ebay.ca/itm/NEW-Sony-VAIO-Fit-SVF1421ACXB-14-Pentium-Dual-Core-Laptop-4GB-500GB-LED-Backlit-/331127951257?pt=Laptops_Nov05&hash=item4d18c38f99)

Anyway, the only concern I have is if it's fake and what I should be looking for when making sure the laptop that I buy is fake or not. I mostly have this fear because ebay is saying I can get these for 200-500 bucks and best buy and sony store are saing 699-1400 bucks.

Could you give me some tips? Thanks Kuja_88

I wouldn't worry about it. eBay is notorious for screwing over sellers. They put your money on hold until you leave positive feedback, so if it's a fake all you have to do is complain and you'll get a refund.

Those prices look normal to me. The first one is used (and very noticeably so). The second has low end specs and is priced accordingly. The Vaio brand encompasses a wide variety of laptops and prices.

That sounds a bit flawed.... What if one were to buy a product from a seller there and they wrote negative feedback and the buyer kept the item. Now you will have your money and the item.

Laptops deprecate quickly so prices go down significantly after just one or two generations. Used or refurbished laptops from last year can sell for like half the price. Anyway, the low prices aren't really suspicious when it comes to old laptops. And ebay is definitely more buyer friendly

I dunno how you would fake a laptop, but when buying stuff off of ebay, i would suggest buy locally and with cash and also look at the seller rating as well

I think you meant to quote me. But yeah that's exactly how it goes. That's why I stopped using eBay.

i would just review the seller's feedback. if he has a lot of sales/positive feedback, i'd be Ok with buying the laptop... i'd aslo make sure your search filter is set to exclude people outside of the US..

I've Sold a bunch of things on Ebay and i've never heard of the Holding money until Positive feedback is given thing. When someone pays, I have their money and can do whatever with it.
