Anno 2070, banished or Civilization V?

Which did you go for TC?

Torn between Anno and Civ.
Since you've played Anno would you recommend I get it with all the DLC or does it really matter?

Personally, I would say that it is good to have DLCs but in terms for bang for buck and the price you paid for DLC on games, Civ V would be the winner. You just see a lot of difference by purchasing the expansions for Civ V compared to Anno 2070. It is a tough decision since both games are great (sadly with Anno marred by Ubi's DLC). Just go with what you are in the mood of playing. City Building or 4x?

Screw it, I'm just gunna get Civ. While Anno looks amazing and addictive, Uplay has screwed me to many times for me to put up with it. I've also heard from you, and some reviews I looked up real quick that people have no idea what they're doing, or its exceedingly confusing.
The older Anno's are suppose to be better, but for some reason they're listed but not for sale. Maybe when they are I'll pick it up.

Game is simple really. I reckon that Banished is more challenging. My only complaint of the series is Uplay and locking the ark when you are offline. The ark could help a lot. Setting-wise I prefer 1404 but there are some mechanics in 2070 that are cool though like the techs and as usual those addictive missions on continuous play.

Civ 5: turn based strategy game. Personally I find it boring and shallow, but that's just me. Some people love it. It focuses on empire building, war, expansion, like your traditional 4X game. Diplomacy system and AI is pretty poor.

Anno 2070: This is a "cute" sort of game (I consider the Anno games to be more cutesy than serious). It is a smallish empire builder game (you develop a couple islands) where you have to micromanage things like bread production, and so on. There can be combat with other factions (there are three factions) and there's some measure of diplomacy and politics, better than Civ5 in this respect.

Banished: This is a survival oriented Simtown kind of game, where you keep a few families from freezing in the winter, or starving, while trying to build a town, increase population, build farms etc. There are disasters (you can turn them off in options) and such. There is no war aspect to the game. This is more of a simcity type of game, while the otehr two are more like light strategy/war games.

I much prefer Banished, myself, but everyone likes what that like.

I'd go with Anno 1404 over 2070, and Civ V. Banished is too hard for me. You can get Anno 1404 Gold (Dawn of Discovery) at Gamersgate. I think they may be the only website selling it digitally. I think it's much better than 2070.

Get Civ V plus the DLC/Expansions, and Banish your BF for not knowing what he is talking about and trying to brainwash you.

Then you get 2/3... not bad...

Civ 4. V is more expensive and i personally like 4 more. Plus cheaper and doesn't have bad performance.

Anno is pretty hard to get your head around, but once you figure out how things work, it's an incredible game. I'd say I like it more than Civ. The thing that got me interested in Anno was a series of beginner guide videos by Nanosuitninja on YouTube. He's got 7 videos in the series, each an hour long. This gives a great explanation as to how Anno works, and it's entertaining. I definitely recommend picking up Anno 2070 at some point.
