Well, I have my 2560x1440 connected through DVI-D so that's not the issue. My problem is having recently purchased a display port to DVI-D adapter for my 120hz monitor, the highest refresh rate I can get is 60hz. I pretty much decided to keep the the 120hz around so when I want to play a 3D game every now and then but if I can only get 60hz that obviously draws a problem. After doing some research, it appears the adapter I have is a passive adapter. Would getting an active adapter allow me to get 120hz?

Why not just use the other DVI port? Or, I think, even HDMI to DVI adapter would be fine.

The other DVI port is not dual link.

HDMI is connected to my TV and can't do 120hz or 60fps/3D.

you wouldn't have had this problem if you went AMD.

I'd have to pay $2,000 for my GPU though. Probably $4,000 for a second card if I wanted to crossfire in the future. And my house would burn down.

All joking aside, the only real use for the monitor is to use 3D vision outside of if I want to watch something on it while I use my main monitor.

I wasn't joking tho, you wouldn't have this issue with AMD.

My built in 3D vision compatible monitor would be an issue for my games! That's the whole purpose of keeping the monitor around.

You wouldn't have that issue if you went AMD in the first place as opposed to Nvidia 3D nonsense.
