The (Original) Legend of Zelda on the Oculus Rift.

Just got done with the demo, which entailed beating the first dungeon and thus obtaining the first piece of the Tri-Force.

Thoughts:

Controls are too loose, you don't stop moving as soon as you let go, which sucks for a game where any enemy contact = damage.

You are also super short in the dungeon. Like infant size in comparison to the rooms.

Getting picked up by the blue hands that carry you back to the start in first person is both odd and cool.

3D pops pretty good.

The boomerang goes in level line, but arrows can be aimed via looking up and down.

The bombs seem to go off a bit too fast.

They thought of people trying to 'cheat' by firing arrows/health charged swords into adjacent rooms and prevent projectiles from passing through open doors.

Those damn blue spiked blocks that try to crush you can't be seen like they can with an overhead view.

There should be a key to lower the hud elements into your field of view when you hold it.

I don't think that guy in the video ever played Zelda before in his life.

No sim sickness after half an hour.

I really want to play Metal Gear like this now.....

Those cubical bushes and boulders irk me... but otherwise it's an interesting concept.

As an addendum;

Let my buddy try it and he got sim sick in about 10 mins.

Mostly from using a controller he believes since it turns so slow he'd be constantly trying to turn his neck to speed it up.

He handled flying a Su-25 in ArmA II better.

I haven't tried it myself yet, but Quake II is supposed to be pretty good on the OR.

I did goof around with Killing Floor and that was a blast.

More so due to the good 3D scopes/iron sights that Tripwire is known for.

Sniping was surprisingly easy. (Look at enemies head, click mouse)

Oh.....

My.....

God.....

I am on the verge of nostalgia induced tears right now.

As someone old enough to have been a kid when the NES was the pinnacle of console gaming this was something I actually thought of in my head as I played.

What it would actually be like to be in the games I was playing.

I am so happy I own a dev kit right now.

Just a few questions regarding the Oculus Rift. I was intrigued when I first heard about this
device.
I visited the site for some info, and see that they only have the developer kit for order. I also
read that the consumer version was hopefully releasing towards the end of 2013.

What is the difference between the developer/consumer version?

...And if I was to order the developer kit, would it work just the same (to play games with) as
the consumer version?

I have a feeling that information may not be accurate.
