What do you guys reccomend for a 1440p monitor?

Are there any affordable ones out now? Preferably around 300-400 dollars. I've got a 7970 Ghz and I've thought about getting a 280x to crossfire it with (that is supposed to work right?), so I would assume I will be able to run games just fine at 1440p. I see The QNIX QX2710 mentioned a lot, but the fact that it says 5 dead pixels are acceptable scares me, are they usually very good or are there any other affordable monitors in that price range?

You can spend $400 on a console and $400 on a cheap PC, or you can spend $800 to build your own and have the best of both worlds.

I personally tried out 1440p and didn't care much for the difference. 1080p is fine with me. Not to mention much easier to max games. It will tank your FPS substantially.

As far as dead pixels are concerned, its hard enough to see them on a 1080p 24" monitor. It will be next to impossible to spot them unless they are bunched up on a 27" 1440p display.

My suggestion is to try a 1440p display to see if its worth it to you. See if the difference is big enough to warrant another graphics card purchase.

Didn't care to much about the difference? It's a 78% increase in pixels....it's a huge difference.

^I bought this monitor a couple of weeks ago and I couldn't be happier. Huge improvement over my 120hz 1080 monitor.

For Clarity's sake, could you give a brief explanation, because this is new to me.

So if i have a 7870 and a 7850, I could crossfire them?
