I've heard good things about Kingdoms of Amalur.

Although I've also heard bad things.

i've played 10 hours into kingdoms of amalur.....everything about the game is pretty good...except one extremely critical (IMO) aspect....the difficulty .....my first time playing the game i put it on hard....and it was really.....reallllly really easy.....and that killed it for me.....as they have a TON of quests to do....and all that does is get you even more powerful and makes the game THAT much easier

And literally all of the quests are terrible

If you have a PS3, try Dragon's Dogma. I found it to be a balance between the Souls and Elder Scrolls series; story was good but not as good as Skyrim, combat good but not as good as Dark Souls, overall an enjoyable experience.

This.

Dragon's Dogma (the enhanced Dark Arisen version mind you) is one of this generation's most oddly received hits.

The first version had some rather glaring issues (like no fast travel) but the Dark Arisen version literally addressed almost every valid complaint about the game, while adding some pretty sizable extra content.

The catch? It is a completely new IP by Capcom, directed by the guy who directed the DMC games.

Angry Joe has done an absolutely fantastic review of the first version of the game. One of the most accurate reviews I have ever seen, actually.

It is actually quite shocking to find out that pretty much everything Angry Joe criticized about the game, has been fixed in the enhanced version, and it also gives you some retrospect as to why the game didn't receive the response it should have.

Seriously, this is one of the games that made it worth keeping a console around this gen.

I recently stumbled upon divinity 2 and am very pleased. I haven't felt like I was really exploring a game in a long time. I do not know if you can use a controller but I assume so since it had an xbox release.

Yes, yes you can. Aiming with the bow is a tad bugged if you use a controller, though (there's a way around it, but it's annoying).
