Would anyone recommend the Logitech G710?

I've got a $50 gift card for Future Shop and that seems to be the only gaming mechanical keyboard with backlights they have in stock.

I have the G510, and while I do like it, especially the backlights that can be custom colored, I have never used the G keys once, so I really don't need 18 of them with 3 banks. Built in screen came in handy when my second monitor died too.

Yep, because your story about a membrane keyboard helps the guy figure out how good his mechanical keyboard is likely to be. Especially when it has a different number of macro keys and no screen, good post.

I personally had bad luck with the G710. I had two different keyboards with faulty backlights, and I didn't like the way the keys felt. (the 'custom' browns felt really imprecise to me). Try and demo it first if you can. I ended up with a corsair k70 and love it to death, but reds definitely aren't for everyone.

I'm pretty sure this is the model I tested at best buy.

Keys felt very responsive with slight feedback and they were quieter than other keyboards with the same switch type.

My issue was its too long due to the pointless macro keys so I went with a K70 instead and really like that one.

K70 comes with reds, blues, or browns. The k70 browns feel almost exactly the same as the logitechs but the logitechs are slightly softer and quieter.

I'm sorry, your link to a completely different keyboard was so much more helpful.
