Amazon Prime question

#1tigerex777Posted 2/27/2014 2:14:34 PM
Just joined Prime because it's free for the first 6 months for students and after that it's 39.99 a year, plus I have an Amazon store card. I just purchased an Asus monitor, 24" with 144hz and it had the Prime sign on it, whish said 2 days free shipping. After placing the order I got the estimated delivery date and it said March 5?? That's not 2 day shipping if I'm doing my calculations right. Anybody have a similar experience?

Assuming you bought this one? http://www.amazon.com/VG248QE-24-Inch-Screen-LED-lit-Monitor/dp/B00B2HH7G0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1393539312&sr=8-1&keywords=Asus+144hz

It lists it may take 1-2 more days to process, that's probably why.

Otherwise, no, never had an issue.

Amazon will manage 2 days pretty much 98% of the time, if it takes longer it is usually because the seller sucks.

Couple of possibilities:

Did you order from the cheapest retailer or from Amazon?
Is the item in stock?
Is the item in stock but requires 1-2 days of extra processing?

And finally, UPS doesn't ship on weekends, sometimes when you order on Thursday afternoon the item doesn't get picked up from the warehouse until Monday morning.

My monitor is straight from Amazon, that's why I bought it in the first place too.

and yes, it said it was on stock.

What the other user said about Amazon being on it for 2-day deliveries 99% of the time is true. If they aren't on time you can also call them up and complain and most of the time they're give you a 25-40% discount depending on how you word it.

If that's the case then it'll arrive in 2 days (usually 1 in my experience), not including weekends. I do live close to a couple of their shipping centers, though.

Did you happen to skip over my post?

Is this the monitor you bought? I don't know of any other 24" 144hz Asus'

If so, you can see it's listing 1-2 days to process.

I had that happen with one item recently, and I've used Prime for 2 or 3 years now. I contacted Amazon support about it through the chat system, and they weren't quite sure why it had given me a 9 day delivery date for a prime-eligible item. That support person ended up crediting me a couple of bucks - basically the equivalent of what shipping would have cost for the item, as an apology. He couldn't do anything to speed up the delivery or guarantee it sooner tho.

After contacting support, I got a standard e-mail survey asking if my issue had been resolved. I clicked no, and the next day received a follow-up e-mail asking for details. I explained that I was simply looking to receive my order as soon as possible, and that 9-day delivery was too late, and I'd have gone to a store to purchase if I'd known it would take that long.

That person did some checking apparently, and within a couple of hours, I received notice that the item had shipped, with a delivery date 2 days later (rather than 7). That follow-up person also gave me an additional $20 Amazon account credit, applied to future purchases on Amazon.

In the end, my order DID arrive later than the 2-day Prime guarantee (I think it took 4 or 5 days), but overall my customer service experience with them was quite good, and they were able to correct the shipping time from 9 days to nearly half that, in addition to giving me a reasonable amount of credit (my order had been around $120, so the shipping equivalent plus the $20 credit actually brought the final price to less than $100).

That's the only time I've had an issue with Prime tho. For the most part, I have almost always received my orders in 1 to 2 days.

Keep in mind that's *business* days - Monday-Friday, so if you place an order Friday afternoon, you're looking at a Tuesday delivery most likely. Ordering today tho, you should be looking at Monday, so I dunno why it said Wednesday. Worth contacting them over I'd say...

EDIT: Worknofun's right - pay attention to your product page. If it says the item may take additional time to process, that time is NOT factored into Prime, and could easily explain your delay. The product I'd ordered had no such statement.

I do blame the seller in the case of my delay - it took a good 2+ days for the order to even process. Once it was shipped, things went as expected.
