Similar situation has happened to me, and they let me keep it for free. They said "Don't worry about shipping the item back, it's on us." And they refunded me as well of course. It wasn't for a headset though it was for a wire.

Betting that wire didnt cost over $150 lol. Im going to fix them if amazon takes the money back out then ill file a return.

A prime example of why Amazon rocks. Someone stole a HDD and video card on my front porch and they resent both the next day with one day shipping without even really questioning it.

Amazon deals with a lot of different merchants, even with stuff directly from amazon. In most cases, it's the source retailer that does things like this. Amazon just ships it and deals with customer service.

Yes. They will usually refund you before you send the item back if you complain about something. They won't forget you have the headset though lol.
DELL did when they sent a replacement for my defective laptop...

Sounds like I got a 50/50 chance this was a gift. The seller did only have one negative in over a year mine was the 2nd.

Just be careful when buying from a seller and trying to um, get over on Seller/Amazon. They ban accounts for returns, etc, when dealer with 3rd party sellers, if its a product from them they don't seem to care, probably because they lose more money.

See, the seller would have to get the product back or Amazon would have to pay for the item.
That is why I never buy from a seller, only from Amazon.

I was actually surprised when dealing with Amazon myself. I bought a Kindle around June of last year, and about a month and a half later the screen cracked on me while I had it in my pocket. No heavy pressure was applied to it at all; the worst I did was bend over a little to fill up a bag of water. I explained this, they said that since it was still under warranty and it didn't seem like I was directly at fault they would replace it, and within 24 hours a replacement had shipped. I got the replacement that Monday and used the packaging to return the broken Kindle the next day.

Frankly I was expecting to have to mail off my old Kindle, wait a few weeks for them to have someone examine it, and then wait another week for a new one to be sent back by the cheapest method available. As such this was a very pleasant surprise.

Of course as a result I also shudder to imagine what my next experience with them might be like. Murphy is my patron saint after all. :-D
