Can I stream my desktop to my Shield?

Can the shield stream your steam games out side your network? If so do I have to set it up to do so.

I got the streaming inside my network working, but would like to show this off at work tomorrow if its possible to play steam games from out side my network.

Weird. I will say that my Shield is rooted. That might be the difference, perhaps it doesn't work well on non rooted Shield's? I'm not really sure because i never really came across any technical issues. that said, I never really did much with my Shield until I rooted it, and thats around the time i started messing with stuff like splashtop. Here is proof in regards to Splashtop THD streaming for the shield

And direct Captures

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXzf_606mx8

- currently using the latest version of Splashtop THD. Are you using an older version? Perhaps that can be the issue ?

Edit: a topic of people doing splashtop thd on the shield

Edit #2: Another person asked a similar, or the same question you did.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2429477

TC's response was "you have to side load the apk file which you can find online. it works great. "

So I have to ask. Are you going just by what the playstore says? Or did you test the program out, and it told you directly that it's not supported?

Ya just went of google store. But its working now which is awesome.

Next question about splash top, how do you configure it to use the joystick and buttons.

I have used this version of splashtop with games and made my own custom profile but that was all touch screen. How do I get it working with the actual buttons and joystick?

Thought I had it but its not working. Will keep looking as well.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't have to be the THD-specific version of Splashtop; the original would work, as well as Splashtop 2. The original is a one-time purchase that allows for permanent PC access away from home, while Splashtop 2 is free (and newer/updated more often) with remote access either a monthly or yearly fee. I've streamed games onto a few devices (iPad 2, Note 2, Nexus 4, Xperia Z Ultra, and Note 3) using Splashtop 2, and had a basically lag-free experience on each.

You can, but you need to set up a proxy for it at this time, though nVidia has expressed interest in allowing users to host their own private GameStream remote servers.

assuming you still haven't found your answer
https://support-splashtoppersonal.splashtop.com/entries/25600766-How-can-I-set-up-the-XBOX-360-controller-for-use-during-a-Splashtop-remote-connection-
follow these

- Please make sure the XBOX 360 controller's driver for Windows is installed properly on the target PC. (You can just plug your XBOX 360 controller into the target PC, then run Windows Update to install the driver.)

- Run cmd.exe as Administrator on the target PC. (You can find cmd.exe then right-click on it to run it as Administrator.)

-Go to the XBOX 360 controller's driver for Splashtop folder by typing:
cd c:/Program Files (x86)/Splashtop/Splashtop Remote/Server/Driver/GamePad/
and then press <Enter>.

-Run the XBOX 360 controller's driver for Splashtop by typing:
install_driver64.bat

-and then press <Enter>.

-Restart the Streamer on the target PC.

And then go into splashtop thd, enable gamepad mode, go to diablo 3 or PES control mapper(or any of the already configured control mapping really) , and bam. Your shield now acts like a wireless 360 controller and you can play PC games with it, along with PS2 and other games. Windows will detect your shield as a 360 controller, so you can just into most PC games and play without trouble.
