I am looking to get a new laptop for school work mainly but also would like a noticable improvement from my old laptop. I believe it had a 1.4 ghz processor. How much would a new laptop with intel core 2 duo 3.2 ghz and a decent graphics cost run me?

A Core 2 Duo @ 3.2 GHz isn't going to emulate PS2 and GC very well. Emulation mostly relies on the CPU to translate instructions. I mean, it would work, but some games would be very slow.

You would probably need the highest end CPU and a midrange GPU to do it. Just think that my phenom 2 940@3.5 could not hanle most dolphin games and SUCKED at PS2. I upgrade to 3770 and im good but a laptop 3770 would be expensive bro.

What would you recommend. I am looking for a laptop to last me for the long run for school but can comfortably run Ps2 and GC. I am not looking for a high end gamimg pc that can play titanfall at max speca or whatver,
just a nice solid laptop.

Just go for the BEST CPU you can afford. im not familiar with mobile chips but an i7 would be important i think. You should get away with a mid-low tier GPU.

I'd guess too that you really want an i7 Haswell. Dolphin and PCSX2 have benefited from four cores for a while now.

i5 haswells are just dual cores with hyperthreading.

Also, Titanfall isn't very demanding at all. Emulation of PS2 and GC however is very demanding.

something like that i would guess. you really need to go all out on the CPU.

the top laptop cpu, i7-4930mx can actually get you performance close to a desktop i7 4770k, it's just more expensive than any typical college student can afford. i don't think any laptop under $2500 has the 4930mx as an option. if i remember correctly, the more attainable i7-4700hq or mq is about the same as a desktop sandy bridge i5

>.> Titanfall is a source game. you could max it out on something far less powerful than something needed to run PS2 games and GC games at decent framerates
