How is this budget build?

$500 is my limit. Is this a decent build? Anyways to improve it? The case and OS are the only things that need to stay the same.

You forgot the video card.

You can spend $400 on a console and $400 on a cheap PC, or you can spend $800 to build your own and have the best of both worlds.

What are we rating it on exactly?

So build a better one for $500. I don't know that much about PC parts.

This System will perform significantly worse than a PS4 in terms of Visual Rendering and overall Graphics, for a very simple reason, you lack the most important component of a gaming system, a GPU/Graphics Card/Video Card, Unfortunately I really don't see any way for you to go any cheaper with the other parts and slot in a Video card, what I would do is just save up for longer and end up getting something along the lines of a GTX 740 or 750 or 760, all of which are great per-watt budget gaming graphics cards.

Honestly, the fact that you have to have an OS (nothing to really be done about that though, if you need it, you need it) and a $100 case really takes a big chunk out of the budget.

Using an APU for graphics limits gaming potential severely.
