I made sure to turn OFF Scheduled optimization so it would not automatically run a Defragment on my SSD (because that puts unnecessary wear on it, right?). But when I bring up the defragment window, it says:
(C:) Solid state drive last run 3/3/2014 Current status OK (0 days since last run)
(F:) Hard disk drive last run 3/4/2014 Current status OK (0% fragmented) -I just ran it on that drive.
System reserved Solid State Drive last run Never run Current Status Needs optimization.
Is it running Defragment automatically on my SSD? Or is TRIM working? Please explain.
Windows is supposed to recognize that there's an SSD there and not run defrag on it at all.
I just checked mine and just having it analyze the level of fragmentation showed it as having been run on my SSD (but all it did was scan it, no defragging took place).
When I went to check the automatic update schedule the SSD wasn't even an option to have on the schedule. That's probably standard with windows 7 and up. --- http://raptr.com/badge/arleas/uc.png http://www.speedtest.net/result/3201564081.png
So why is it saying "last run" as if it (the defragmentation process) had just been run on it???
If you scan it to see how fragmented it is, it says "last run" at that time. It does not mean that it was actually defragmented, just that it was the last time it was checked. it should NOT be on the weekly (or whatever) defrag schedule.
If you go to your disk defragment program and click on "configure schedule" you can make sure that it won't be selected, but like I said, it shouldn't even be an option that you could add accidentally. --- http://raptr.com/badge/arleas/uc.png http://www.speedtest.net/result/3201564081.png
