It's not FLAC, it's 24-bit FLAC. Gotta make the audiophiles happy.

Good grief... Lets spend all the money on audio and screw the graphics and make the game 50GB. GO MS!!!

Doesn't it have 4K textures? Chances are textures (including but not limited to 4K) alone are up to like 15GB

The last thing PC gamers should be whining about his HDD space, you should have three or four 2tb HDDs by now, in addition to SSD.

That said, yeah bloatware. The cinematic schlock games are the worst offenders, BF4 installed at 30gb but at least it has campaigns, Payne 3 installed at 35gb thanks to cutscenes, Ghosts was 40gb and Elder Scrolls online is like 60gb.

This is old news.

If you buy it physical, you just don't need to download the 49.99 GB, you still have to install that 49.99 GB, just from your disk.

Still putting my money on the sheer fact it's a Source Engine game with an option for REALLY high-end textures. Uncompressed high resolution textures are enormous.

Most of Valve's games are relatively efficient in re-using assets as much as possible and they still exceed 10-15GB regularly.

Also: I wish Origin showed the true *download* size, not "It's eventually going to take this much space, but we download the compressed files and unpack them, and to make up for it we lie about your download speed".

I'm preloading at 15MB/s.

To be fair, Steam doesn't show the true download size till after you've committed downloading either. That said, I beleive EA said it was something like a 21GB download according to the topic a few weeks back.
